Audi could be set to launch a diesel version of its popular TT model, according to reports from Auto Express magazine.
The magazine claims to have spotted an oil-burning version of the car that is expected to be accompanied by a 2.0-litre 168 bhp engine and could be available next spring to motorists with approved Car Finance.
It is reported that the model could come with a turbo diesel injection, offering the familiar look of a TT while still giving the economical performance of a diesel engine.
"Offering a 50 mpg TT would open up the desirable sports model to a wide range of new buyers - particularly those covering high mileages," the magazine states.
The model which was spotted by Auto Express was thought to be a prototype but it is noted that the German manufacturer could have the vehicles available to drivers, including those with new Car Loans, early next year.
Audi's latest sports model - the R8 - will make its big screen debut next summer as the vehicle of choice for playboy businessman Tony Stark in the upcoming Iron Man movie.
