Audi has announced it is to begin a new scheme that aims to improve the CO2 emissions levels of its vehicles - which could be of interest to Car Loans customers shopping for a greener option.

According to What Car? magazine, Audi is planning a number of different measures that will see excess weight dropped from models and innovative extra features, such as grilles that close when the radiator does not require cooling, fitted to cars.

It is reported that the moves were recently confirmed by company officials who have also hinted that alterations in aerodynamic design could be a major part of the plans.

Although it is reported that the changes may not be seen on the manufacturer's production vehicles for around two years, it is hoped that the scheme will be as successful as BMW's Efficient Dynamics initiative.

Two of Audi's latest models will receive the big screen treatment later this year when they appear in Marvel Comics' hotly anticipated summer blockbuster - Iron Man.
