Car finance news: Prius top of used buyers' wish lists

Following the Prius' top ranking in a customer satisfaction survey earlier this month, sales of the used Toyota model has peaked, according to Carcraft.

The car hypermarket chain reported that following the publication of the survey on May 8th there was a shortage of the used cars, with many customers asking to be placed on a waiting list.

Stocks have now been replenished the company said, but shortages could re-occur if demand continues to grow.

Paul Oakley, Carcraft regional sales director, said: "With the current financial situation car buyers are keen for any independent confirmation that their money will be well spent.

"The JD Power Survey always has an impact on sales of the best scoring model, but this year's demand was unprecedented."

He added that the green credentials of the Prius have also helped its popularity.

In the JD Power/What Car? UK Car Customer Satisfaction Index Study the Prius scored 901 points out of a possible 1,000.
