Recommended. The Leon is based on the VW Golf but is cheaper and much more fun to drive. Equipment levels are high and there is an excellent range to tempt you.

Review

The Leon is another hatchback from the huge Volkswagen Group - but this one is actually better than the legendary Golf. That's because it has been built for drivers who want pace and performance. The TDi diesels are the pick of the bunch, but for out-and-out pleasure, a 180bhp Cupra takes some beating for the money. Prices have been kept relatively low and only the interior lacks the charms of a Golf. That said, there's plenty of space, a big luggage area and very comfortable seats. A wise choice if you're not a badge snob.
